In The Pure Morning A religious and faith calligraphy designs

his piece is about quietness – both within ourselves and the quietness which surrounds us. The words were translated from the 8th century Chinese poet Ch’ang Chien ‘A Buddhist Retreat behind Broken Mountain Temple.’

In the illustration Tess has evoked the early sunrise, the gentle breeze and the soft temple bell. Sunrise and sunset are the quietest moments of the day and only by listening do we find silence and become still and calm. The words are often used in meditation. Commissioned by Anna who lives in California.
