his piece is based on the Labyrinth at Cape Town Cathedral, which is of medieval design. It is possible to walk this labyrinth with your finger whilst meditating. Those who have done it have found it has a very calming effect.
This calligraphy work was commissioned by a doctor for his wife who was being ordained. She had very strong South African connections, hence the use of the African influences in the Illumination, showing ‘water’ ‘plants’ ‘animals’ ‘humans’ ‘angels’ and ‘God’.
