he Owl and the Pussycat was written by Edward Lear in 1871. and tells the story of the love between the title characters who marry in the land "where the Bong-tree grows".

Tess has designed this piece to demonstrate the love between these two creatures, gazing adoringly at each other before they embark on their journey across the sea. The shilling evokes the days gone by when coins were made from silver and gold. Having a shilling made us feel very rich when we were children. Just as having a sixpence from the tooth fairy or under the Christmas pudding. This piece is to appeal to our sense of nostalgia and it still captivates children today.

The piece has been painted using acrylic inks and watercolours. Each print will be individually hand finished with 23 carat gold leaf and silver leaf. Prints are made using lightfast archival quality inks and printed on Hanimule paper which has similar qualities to watercolour paper but is prepared for printing.
